My favorite sort of entertainment is campy genre television with a heart that’s bigger than its budget – the sort of stuff that usually films in Toronto but pretends to be set in New York.
Television is made for streaming now, with all the fat and filler cut out of it. But there’s something cozy about a story that has room to stretch out, and characters that have time to endear themselves to you.
I asked myself how to tell a big, silly science fiction story on a shoestring budget, and what I came up with was an audio drama.
