Watch Me Suffer is a visual novel created for Spooktober Game Jam, which took place for the month of September in 2024. I wrote it, and directed our team, coordinating our programmer, artists, musicians, and voice actors.
My challenge here was to write something relatively short and self-contained that the team could finish within a month, that was a satisfying narrative rather than a demo for a larger game.
I ended up centering the game around a time loop, because this allowed me to reuse certain bits of text over and over, varying it in each loop – making the game longer than it might have otherwise been, but not overtaxing my team by making them work on too much.
Managing this project was an absolute dream; I couldn’t be prouder of my team.
